I just bought my nissan titan and i have been getting crapy gas mileage. I have been getting about 12mpg not hauling anything. Is it just because it is new and it takes a lil bit more than usual or what.

I have had my Titan since March 26, 04' and my gas mileage has steadily gone up from 11 mpg new to a whopping 14 mpg! My problem is they say 18 mpg on the highway and most of my driving is highway. I am pretty sure it isn't going to get much if any better than the 14 I am getting now.

What, if anything, has the dealership said about this problem? I seem to be getting about what the sticker said I would.

Problem? What problem?? If you read the sticker it distinctly says "13 MPG" for in town driving. My Murano with the 3.5 V6 gets 15.1 with the sticker advertising 15 in town.

I get about 12 to 13 in town. And 15 to 16 on the highway. Whenever I use the 4x4 it's really low 10 to 11. Towing is 12. I once got 19 - but it was only once

I bought my truck (04 4x4 Crew SE) off ebay with 23k on it. Drove it from Cali to Utah averaging 85 mph. Logged 12 mpg. My GMC always got at least 14 and usually better at that speed. So, I dropped the speed down to a max 75 mph on the freeway (and usually less). Now I get 15 mpg. (Drag on this thing must be much worse than the GMC's) I'm also averaging 14.5 around town... even with a heavy foot.

But even at 14.5 I'll take it. I had a 96 Mazda b2600 4x4 ext cab with a newly rebuilt engine that could only get 12mpg on it's best day... and it was gutless!!!

I have an 04 and I regularly get 19 to 20 on the highway and about 14 to 15 in town. This highway milage does not seem to change much with or without AC on.

I have '06 and before i installed my lift i was getting about 12mpg highway and 10-11 in-town.
i have an 07 4x4 and i with the mods i did i get about 16 but only if i keep my foot off the floor. plus i wlays use the high grade fuels so that increases m.p.g
i also get 13 mpg highway,
i added a k&n air filter and hi-flo muffler to get to 13 mpg.
the trucks have great power and performance so i'm not complaining.
i moved up from a gutless frontier with a six, i'm happy.
Put the tailgate down it will save the gas abit i have a 2009 titan 14city and if lucky 18hwy it's a monster
man i understand if it had a v6 but putting out this much horse power with a k&n filter, flowmasters, plus a
chip, fuel will always be an issue but titans all the way!
I was thinking if there was a front hub kit. One that would unlock the front end from the drag issue I bet it'd sip the fuel a bit better. The 2x's get upwards of 18 mpg and have the same aero drag. Only diff. is the front diff.
Though a bed cover may not work for some due to their use of the truck, I'm on my second Titan and a bed cover will increase your mpg. There is a wind tunnel testing site I found while searching for a better cover and was amazed with the following: A flush bed cover will improve mpg on any pickup from 11 to 16%. A canopy cover will decrease mpg by 8 to 12%. Driving with the tailgate down was negligible. Both my Titans got 12-13 combined driving mpg without a cover. With a cover combined 15-16 mpg. On a side note, I have a snuglid on my 09 with the cargo system in a ProX4. All one has to do is invert the rails, re-installing them upside down and any bed cover will fit. without loosing the rail tie downs
I have an 04 SE Crew Cab 4x4 and get 17 in mixed driving and about 19 on the highway. I try to keep the speed between 65 and 70 and use the cruise control on the highway. I've been told that a "tuner" can probably adjust the computer so it gets better mileage but I haven't really researched that yet.
I just broke 600 miles on my new 09' titan king cab and im averaging 14 in town and 20 hwy, i did notice you have to drive the truck a little diffrent to get better gas milage. From a dead stop, you have to give it some gas and get her up and rollin, if you lag on the peddel and mother it, you get worse milage. Second, during coast mode at around 40 mph, the truck transmition up shits at 35 mph and gets yah a few more blocks on the roll.
hi i love my nissan titan no matter what gas milage i got, but i have a question you see i was getting 18 on the high way and 14 in the city , but i changed my tires to non off road tires to street tires and i'm wondering would that of changed my gas milage?, becuase when i had my origional tires i got from the dealer when i purchased the truck had the off road wranglers that come with it, so when i put these street tires on it i've lost
3 gallons per mile on the highway to 15 and in the city i think 11 or 12, oh sorry my nissan is an 08 nissan titan, thanks for any advice
Hi I've had my 2004 Titan Crew LE for over two years. I am running full synthetic oils, K& N cold air intake, E 3 spark plugs, helix throttle body spacer, I also installed the ram air twin scoop hood. I am getting about 15 to 16 city, 19 to 21 highway. I love my Titan. The horse power is awesome.
I just purchased a 2004 Titan King Cab and was wondering if anyone has tried the Hypertech programmer to get better milage. If so, does anyone live in the Sacramento region to hook up to share your experiences??
I Installed the Hypertech programer , If you want this program for better milage forget it. You will see a hp and torque gain. I used the regular gas program. These guys that are getting 19&20mpg highway, what truck did they say they had.
